Thanks.  I agree.  I have believed for several years that the only creative and proactive energies are coming from the private sector.  There are some out there, operating on a different plane from the government and with important impact.  Until recently I considered that these efforts were more limited than they may ultimately prove to be, it seeming that some problems, like global warming, really require action by governments.  A bold approach by California may be followed by other states and entities which may be both effective directly and by putting pressure on the government.

I appreciate that your article is not pessimistic, but rather determined and hopeful.  There have been times like this in all ages and solutions are found, some sooner and better than others.  Let's not underestimate the innate goodness in people, or the creativity and energy that can be tapped.</description>
