What Happens in 2020 Stays in 2020!
2020 has undoubtedly been a year of tremendous challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic resulting in more than 340,000 deaths so far, a severe economic downturn, and disruption of our daily lives. The Black Lives Matter movement calling us to finally confront our personal and collective racism. Plus, a President who has proven himself unworthy of the office and who, time and time again, has failed to fulfill his responsibilities to our nation and we, the people.
Yet as we set our sights on the coming year, 2021, there is hope on the horizon, an emerging consciousness that a significant shift is underway, perhaps symbolized by the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21. In November, we joined together to elect a new President and Vice President who will take office on January 20, 2021. The distribution of COVID-19 vaccines is already underway, steadfast frontline healthcare workers persist in heroically serving those who have fallen ill, and the majority of Americans continue to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their fellow citizens from the dangerous virus. Many of us have awakened to the injustices and oppression people of color have encountered throughout the history of this nation and are taking action to rectify this evil within ourselves and our communities. Countless numbers have gained valuable insights during the time in isolation along with a chance to connect more deeply with immediate family members.
But perhaps more than anything else, there seems to be a greater awareness that we truly are all connected, that what happens to you affects me, what happens to me affects you. We are indeed made for these times, and together we possess the power to create a more compassionate, just, and sustainable society, a world in which every one of us has the opportunity to thrive and lead a fulfilling life. And now is the time to discern what is yours to do to help create this reality and then to go out and do it!
